SPREADING CALIPER ANTHROPOLOGY / SPREADING CALIPER / SMALL SPREADING CALIPERWITH POINTED END
A spreading caliper is a standard instrument used in biological anthropology laboratories to measure short distances between two points. It's commonly used for craniometry and cephalometry. Here are some characteristics of a spreading caliper:
- Ends: The ends of the spreading branches are rounded for the patient's comfort.
- Ruler: The caliper has a pivotal ruler with millimeter scale intervals that gives the precise distance between the two points.
- Screw: A screw on the slider immobilizes the branches in any position.
Spreading Caliper with pointed ends provides accurate measurement of short distances between two points, where one or both points may not be on a flat surface. This caliper is most commonly used for craniometry and cephalometry. Spreading Caliper with pointed ends is manufactured from brass chrome plated. The ends of the spreading branches are pointed and generally uncomfortable for patients, as opposed to the Spreading Caliper which has rounded ends. Hinged at the base, the two curved branches with pointed ends are connected by a pivotal ruler, which is engraved in millimeter intervals from 0 to 30 cm. The branches can be immobilized in any position by a screw located on the slider which guides the ruler. The ruler gives the precise distance between the two points over which the measurement has been taken. In Spreading caliper we have option for Pointed ends and Rounded Ends large Spreading caliper : 0-600mm Small Spreading caliper : 0-300mm

Bone Measuring Oestrometric Board / Oestrometric board for bone measurement / Bone measurement tools for oestrometric studies / Oestrometric board for livestock
The Bone Measuring Oestrometric Board is a specialized tool used to assess the physical development or maturity of livestock, particularly in the context of reproduction. This device is often employed in the study of animal growth patterns, especially in relation to the reproductive cycle and hormone levels.
The oestrometric board is typically designed to measure various body parameters, such as skeletal maturity or other characteristics tied to the reproductive age of an animal. It can be used in animals like cattle, sheep, or goats to track their readiness for breeding or to monitor the progress of their growth and development.
The specific measurements taken with this tool might include:
- Pelvic dimensions: To assess whether the animal is physically ready for mating.
- Bone maturity: To determine the age or reproductive stage of the animal.
- Body size: Larger animals often show different hormonal or growth patterns compared to smaller animals.
This device is commonly used in agricultural and veterinary sciences to aid in managing breeding schedules and improving livestock productivity.

Osteometric refers to the measurement of bones, especially in the context of anthropology or archaeology. Osteometry is the study of the human or animal skeleton, and it involves quantifying the bony anatomy through measurements and counts. Osteometry is a key part of osteology, as it provides precise data for research and communication among researchers. It is often done digitally using technologies like laser scanning and computerized tomography. Osteometric sorting is based on the strong correlations between the sizes of the bones in the skeleton. For example, a large humerus is usually associated with a large femur and a large metatarsal.
